Destination: Tokyo Part 1

Day 1
Date: 14 February 2008

No, it was not a Valentine's Day travel for me. It's CNY! I just had to go somewhere during the holidays!

I took a night flight from KL via Thai Airways as the price of the ticket then was RM24xx. Quite affordable IMO. But of course, Air Asia's much cheaper now that they fly to Tokyo!

I got into Narita Airport at about 7am and the first thing I did was head to the counter where they sold this tourist Tokyo Metro Ticket. So if you are flying into NRT, please get this ticket. Info here. It's ¥980 for a 2 day ticket.

It's a really good deal as 1 station ride would be around ¥160, unless of course if you are staying downtown Tokyo, then there's no point to get this ticket. You should really pay per ride then. In this case, take the JR, it's cheaper than the Metro.

So anyway, right after that, I walked to the Keisei Skyliner counter. It's the cheapest way to get into the city. I'm a cheapo like that. :P

That's the ticket, so it's ¥1000 per trip. It stops at Ueno Station where I'm supposed to get off at to take the Metro to Minami-Senju Station via the Hibiya Line.

Oh, I forgot to mention that when I got out of the plane, it was freezing cold. I read online that the temperature will be 10c and apparently it's not what is shown at the airport. It's 9c but feels like 7c, what with the wind and such. I didn't even bring gloves or scarves!

Obviously the train was emtpy as it was the first train of the day departing from NRT. It was nicely heated and cushioned.

After settling down at the inn, I head to Ikebukuro. I don't really remember why I even bothered to go to this area but I was actually looking to buy a pair of gloves & a scarf.

I managed to get a pair of gloves and I was lucky that it was on sale!

That was about all that I did. I was absolutely tired from not able to sleep during the flight, so yea, I'm heading back to the inn for a nap.
